59 Imperialis Vanilla from Tanzania

Another rare endemic Vanilla species we found with our partner Jephta from Tanzania in September 2024, is also found in the wild on the African continent, and more particularly in countries located along the Equator line. This one has the particularity of flowering more often and the flowers last for a few days which could also be useful to increase and prolong the flowering of other species with which it could potentially be hybridised.
 
Its pods get fully ripen after about 18 months on the vine, and will surely need at least as long to complete its maturing and refining process, one that is particularly well suited to the pods so as not to alter its character. Its aromatic profile - made up of organoleptic molecules present in lesser quantities compared to other species - does possess other molecules that have not yet been analysed and deserves to be matured under optimum conditions to be able to truly attest of its potentially aromatic qualities and more probaly therapeutic or medicinal properties.
